Meditation
Meditation and Medicine both come from the same Sanskrit word meaning “to care for”. At Rocky Mountain Healing Center, we offer meditation classes, as well as incorporate mindfulness and meditative practices in the therapy hour.
Although there are over 100 types of meditation, the basic kinds are as follows:
- Concentrative – mantra, prayers, visualization
- Awareness – Vipassana, mindfulness
- Experience - dance, chanting, fast breathing, Qi gong, yoga
Through the use of guided imagery, visualization, progressive muscle relaxation, and deep breathing techniques, our practitioners work one-on-one and in groups to help you manage physical pain, gain focus, and control symptoms of anxiety. Meditative practices have been scientifically proven to change brain wave activity and neurotransmitter levels, in addition to increasing parasympathetic activity, thus resulting in a relaxed and calm state of awareness.
